The Fellowship of the Ride 27-05-15
It began with the forging of the Great Rings, three were given to the Elves, immortal, wisest fairest of all beings. Seven were given to the Dwarf Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls and nine rings were gifted to the race of Men who, above all else, desire power.
For within these rings was bound the strength and will to govern each race. But they were all of them deceived
for another ring was made.
With the scene set it was time for our adventure to start heading for Mordor …
Frodo aka Johnsy, Sam aka Bag of Leaves,
Pippin aka Gaz and Merry aka Taff were ready to lead the herd to middle earth…
On the way to middle earth (Turners Lane for mere mortals) we had a surprise visit from
Gandalph the Grey aka Feather, surprisingly rather than riding his bike he was pushing it? His
Wizardry powers on this occasion seemed to have deserted him as his bike has encountered a
puncture, instead of fixing it himself it was far quicker for him to make everyone else wait and
get someone to help him fix it!
Onwards and upwards we climbed out of the shire and onto top of 2 Mile Climb, from here it was a dry powdery run into the Ye Olde Risca valley, from here we traversed around the side of the mountain and headed for the misty realms of Mordor.
The pace was good, the race was on to reach the summit, however we felt that we were being followed…
Gollum's real name was Crocket, and he had once been a member of the secluded branch of the early Stoorish Hobbits
Gollum left his cave in pursuit of Bilbo a few years after losing the Ring, but the trail was cold. He made his way to the edge of Mordor, Gollum picked up the trail and began following the Fellowship of the Ride on Turners Lane.
The Ring brought to Gollum unnatural long life. For five hundred years it poisoned his mind. And in the gloom of Gollum's
Cave you could hear my own, my love... My precious!
To be continued …
